JCI Kota Kinabalu — Four members from our chapter attended the 2012 Area Sabah Team Building Camp from March 31 to April 1, 2012 in Labuan, with JCI Sen. Teresa Alberto as head trainer. The camp was located on a gorgeous beach, with constantly blowing winds.
The trip began on Friday evening where we drove all the way to Menumbok Jetty to catch the speed boat to Labuan. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Jerry, Labuan’s IPP, who drove us to Beta Apartments, the place we will stay for the night, as well as the place Sabah team held their 2nd area meeting. The next morning, we quickly grabbed breakfast, packed and went on our way to the campsite. JCI KK Past Presidents met up with the Board of Directors in conjunction with 1973 President JCI Senator George Chu’s visit to Kota Kinabalu at Vegas Bar and Grill at Damai Point.
We had the honour of the presence of JCI Sen. Datuk Junior Pang (Charter President JCI Keningau and Past Senate Chairman), JCI Sen. David Ho (PP JCI Sandakan), JCI Sen. BB Tan (PP JCI Tawau), JCI Sen. Joseph Ho (PP JCI Lahad Datu), JCI Sen. Richard Shak (PP JCI Penampang) and JCI Malaysia NVP Safarina Wasli.
Among Past President who attended were JCI Sen. John Soon, JCI Sen. Anthony Ng, JCI Sen. Priscilla Onn, Norbert Su, JCI Sen. Donald Stephens, Andrew Chong, Petrus Mojuntin, JCI Sen. Chin Kah Thing, JCI Sen. Peter Chong and Peter Liau.
Three past members, Michael Liew, Victor Tseu and Philip Liew attended the luncheon as well.
JC Neelkrish chaired the luncheon and was supported by JC Charles Lim, JC Ice Tang, JC Gary Rameshvaran and JC June Wong.
Also present was Awang Faisal, a Provisional member, who is the nephew of 1984 President JCI Sen. Kamis Awang Ali.
JCI Sen. George shared his experience as a JC member and how others can benefit. The second part he shared his experience working in China and the different culture in doing business as well as the civil service.
Among other topics brought up by JC Neel, was in regards to the JCI KK Secretariat and JCI KK’s 50th Anniversary Celebration on the 7th October 2012.
